In the aftermath of
Hurricane Katrina thousands of families were displaced and many were
forced to settle in the Atlanta area. Our church was able to help
fund raise for more than eight families. The funds were used to pay for temporary
living expense for the families. In collaboration with other
Ethiopian community leaders and Churches arrangements were made to
assist them in finding employment, permanent housing, and most
importantly offer support during the difficult transitional period of
their re-settlement.

Tsebate YemaneBrhan has
been emphasizing numerous times in his weekly teachings that
Ethiopians need to learn the importance of volunteering and
supporting the Ethiopian Community Association. The organization is only going to
be a strong as its members are; therefore it is imperative that we become
participants to strengthen the organization not only for us but for
the future generation.
The church working
with the ECA has fund raised to help Ethiopians who needed medical
care, food, shelter, and assistance to cover funeral and transportation expenses.

The Ethiopian Orthodox Church is member of the Oriental Orthodox

other Oriental Orthodox churches through various collaborative efforts. Our church belongs to the Oriental Churches' Clergy and lay members Association in the Atlanta area which holds a regular monthly meeting and an occasional common prayer and Liturgical Worship services for its members.
